Maria and Manj’s Intimate Okanagan Wedding at N1 Estate

Maria and Manj's wedding at N1 Estate Family Farm was proof that an intimate guest list can still create an incredibly detailed and elevated wedding experience. Their October celebration brought together family and friends from near and far for a beautifully designed outdoor wedding in Penticton, BC.
From a custom handmade veil and carefully coordinated dress code to a long-table dinner beneath the tree and a sparkler send-off, nearly every detail of their wedding was personalized. And although one very important family member — their dog — could not make the trip, Maria and Manj found a pretty memorable way to make sure their furry baby was still part of the celebration.
A Custom Wedding at N1 Estate
Maria and Manj chose a Custom Wedding at N1 Estate, giving them the flexibility to create a celebration around their own vision. They worked with a rental company and event décor specialist to bring together the look and feel they wanted for the day, incorporating carefully selected rentals, décor and personal details throughout the property.

A Destination Celebration With Family From Around the World
Maria and Manj's wedding was more than a single-day celebration. Family travelled from outside Canada to be there, making their intimate Okanagan wedding an opportunity to bring some of the people closest to them together in one place. Guests can spend more than just the wedding day together, exploring local wineries, restaurants, beaches and the surrounding Okanagan Valley before and after the celebration. For a smaller wedding, that additional time together can become just as memorable as the wedding itself.
Wedding Fashion With a Plan
Maria and Manj also showed how much of an impact a coordinated wedding dress code can have. Manj wore a white tuxedo, while the other men wore black suits with crisp white dress shirts. The ladies arrived in long gowns, creating a polished and cohesive look across the entire wedding party and guest group.
Against the natural greens of the farm, orchards and surrounding Okanagan landscape, the formal black-and-white styling created beautiful contrast in their wedding photographs. Maria's look included an especially personal detail: a custom handmade wedding veil created specifically for her.

An Early Autumn Wedding
Maria and Manj celebrated in October, when the Okanagan landscape was transitioning into fall. An early autumn wedding can feel very different from a summer celebration at the farm. The changing landscape, softer seasonal light and cooler temperatures create their own atmosphere and offer a different backdrop for wedding photography.
Their October date also gave them an opportunity that isn't always possible during the Okanagan summer.
There was no fire ban in effect at the time of their wedding, allowing Maria and Manj to finish the evening with a sparkler send-off.
It was a beautiful way to end the celebration and created some incredible nighttime photographs.
Dinner at One Long Table Under the Tree
One of the defining moments of Maria and Manj's wedding was dinner. Rather than a large traditional reception layout, everyone gathered around one beautifully styled long table beneath the tree for a delicious meal together.
Long-table dinners are particularly well suited to small weddings because they bring everyone into the same conversation and make dinner feel like a shared experience. There isn't a distant table on the other side of a ballroom or dozens of guests the couple never gets the opportunity to speak with. Instead, the newlyweds can sit down, enjoy their meal and spend meaningful time with almost everyone they invited.

Making Sure Their Dog Was Part of the Intimate Okanagan Wedding
Maria and Manj's dog was unable to attend the wedding, but that did not mean their furry family member was going to miss out completely. The couple created a custom cutout portrait of their dog and brought it to the celebration. And it wasn't simply placed somewhere as décor. As the evening continued, their dog's cutout made its way onto the dance floor, where Maria, Manj and their guests danced the night away with it. It was funny, personal and completely them — exactly the kind of detail guests remember long after a wedding is over.
For couples planning their own wedding, personal touches do not necessarily have to be elaborate or expensive. Sometimes the details with the most personality are the ones that become the most memorable.

Why Small Weddings Can Still Have Big Details
One misconception about intimate weddings is that choosing a smaller guest list means choosing a simpler or more casual wedding. Maria and Manj's celebration showed the opposite. They invested their attention in the things that mattered to them: beautiful design, fashion, photography, food, their family and meaningful personal details.
A smaller guest list can actually give couples more freedom to do this. Instead of spreading a wedding budget across a very large number of guests, couples can choose where they want to prioritize their spending — whether that means elevated catering, custom décor, fashion, photography, flowers, rentals or experiences for their guests.
