How quickly you can get married depends on several factors, including venue availability, your guest count, vendor availability and how flexible you are with your preferred date. An intimate wedding is generally easier to organize on a shorter timeline than a large traditional wedding because there are fewer guests, fewer logistics and often fewer vendors to coordinate.

Start With Your Wedding Venue

If you are planning a last-minute wedding, your venue should be one of the first things you secure.

Before choosing all of the other details, find out:

• How many guests can the venue accommodate?

• What is already included?

• Which vendors will you still need to hire?

• Does the venue provide planning support?

• Are there restrictions you should know about?

A smaller guest list can make last-minute wedding planning significantly easier. N1 Estate specializes in intimate weddings. Our Elopement Package can accommodate up to 20 attendees, while our Micro Wedding Package accommodates up to 28 attendees, including the couple.

Weekday weddings can be particularly helpful when planning on shorter notice because venues and wedding professionals may have availability that would not exist on popular Saturdays.

At N1 Estate, our regular wedding season runs from June through mid-September, and availability varies throughout the season. Occasionally, remaining dates or cancellations can also create opportunities for couples hoping to get married sooner than expected. The best approach is simply to inquire rather than assume a particular season is already completely booked.

What Do You Need to Legally Get Married in British Columbia?

If you are planning a last-minute wedding in BC, the legal requirements are another important part of your timeline. You will need a valid British Columbia marriage licence before your ceremony, and your wedding must be performed by someone legally authorized to solemnize marriages in the province.

For couples booking N1 Estate's Elopement Package or Micro Wedding Package, a licensed wedding officiant is already included. You will still be responsible for obtaining your marriage licence before the wedding.

What About Photography, Flowers and Cake?

These are normally three separate vendors couples need to research and book. With an all-inclusive wedding Package, much of that work can already be taken care of. N1 Estate's Elopement and Micro Wedding Packages include professional photography, wedding cake and florals, along with other wedding-day elements.

That does not mean your wedding has to look exactly like everyone else's. Couples still have opportunities to personalize aspects of their celebration, including their colour palette, cake flavour and selected details, with optional enhancements available for couples who want to customize the experience further.

What About Catering?

If you are planning a Micro Wedding with a sit-down or buffet dinner, catering should be one of the next priorities after securing your wedding date.

N1 Estate works with trusted local catering partners, and couples can select the option that best suits their preferences and wedding style. Because availability can vary, couples planning on shorter notice may need to remain flexible with their preferred caterer or menu. An intimate guest count can make this easier because you are arranging a meal for a relatively small group rather than a reception of 100 or more people.

Don't Forget Accommodation and Transportation

If guests are travelling to Penticton for your wedding, accommodations should be considered as soon as your date is confirmed. Penticton and the Naramata Bench offer hotels, resorts, vacation rentals and boutique accommodations, but availability can become limited during busy periods in the Okanagan.

Transportation is also important. N1 Estate has parking for three guest vehicles, so couples often arrange taxis or shuttle transportation for their guests.

If you are planning a destination wedding, sending accommodation and transportation information to your guests immediately after confirming your date can make the process much easier.
